Revitalizing an Icon: Transforming the Former Macy’s into a Modern Mixed-Use Landmark

The Holladay Hills Adaptive Reuse project presents an opportunity to transform the former Macy’s building in the old Cottonwood Mall into a modern, multi-functional high-end space. As the general contractor, Forge was hired to convert this three-story structure into a core/shell building that will later serve as a hub for retail and office activities. This involves a comprehensive adaptive reuse strategy, focusing on the preservation and enhancement of the existing building while introducing new elements to meet current standards and expectations.

Collaboration is key in this project. Forge is committed to working closely with Woodbury Corporation, Nelson Partners, and all involved subcontractors and consultants. According to Jason Wedlick, Vice President of Construction Management for Woodbury Corporation, “Forge Contractors has truly gone above and beyond through preconstruction, demolition and as we have started construction. This project offers some unique challenges, and Forge has found creative solutions to keep it moving safely and on time, while still preserving the iconic qualities in the building.
